Henry Faulkner Oil on Canvas Painting

This oil on canvas painting is by Henry Lawrence Faulkner (1924 – 1981). The painting of a headless violinist with a butterfly was done after a famous 1976 weekend party in Liberty, Kentucky which Henry attended. Linda wanted her friends to visit her but Liberty was out of the way. She said "You all would come to my funeral…" So she had a funeral, complete with rented coffin. At the beginning of the party, a butterfly landed on her shoulder and stayed there for the weekend. Henry painted butterflies in his paintings for a period after the party. The painting is 18" x 12" and is in a black frame which is 20" x 14" overall.
