Mercier Freres French Art Deco Cuban Mahogany Sideboard - THE MERMAID
This extraordinary 1930’s French art deco sideboard would be the focus of any room. Made in the 1930's by the French firm, Mercier Freres of Rue Faoubourg Saint-antoine, Paris. Constructed of rare figured Cuban mahogany veneers the cabinet sits on two oval pedestals with horizontal bronze bands above a lap foot plinth with bronze end fittings. Wedge shaped curved sides enclose four doors and five drawers, the drawers with parchment fronts and gilt bronze pulls. The gilt bronze door pulls are cast in the form of mermaids. The undulating front of the top conforms to the doors and drawers. The sycamore interior contains shelves. The sideboard is 106 ½” long x 21” deep and 41 ½” high.
