Bronzes & Art Deco Metalware

Pair Hagenauer Candlesticks

This pair of Austrian art deco candlesticks was designed by Karl Hagenauer (1888 – 1956) in the 1930’s and made by the Hagenauer Wersktatte in Vienna. Cosntructed of chromium plated brass, the tree form candelabra are stamped “wHw” (Hagenauer Wekrstatte Wein). Measuring 18 ½” high, the sticks are in excellent condition. We have attached photos of Alastair Duncan's description of similar candlesticks in his book "Modernism", another pair (different size) featured in Alfred W. Edwards' "Art Deco Sculpture and Metalware", and finally, excerpts of a copy of a book on Hagenauer published in 1971 in German showing another variation of the candlesticks.
