French Art Deco Furniture

Parchment Sideboard Attributed to Andre Arbus

This French art deco sideboard from the late 1930’s is attributed to André Arbus (1903 – 1969). The sideboard is covered in parchment with the two large doors laid in a sunrise pattern. The short legs in the front are a continuation of the bulbous corner supports and terminate in bronze sabots. The hinges, escutcheons and keys are bronze as well as the decorative trim along the bottom. A bronze placque of a seated young woman holding a dove centers the sideboard. The door on the left opens to three drawers of figured sycamore, the door on the right reveals three shelves. The piece is in excellent condition and measures 67” wide x 19” deep and 36” high.
